VIDEO Badminton Games: Biathlon for Fun & Multi Feeding Practice

In a good Badminton training setting, players need to feed themselves shuttles to work on their technique. But feeding is not as simple as it sometimes looks. The game biathlon is a fun way to practice this essential skill.

Optimal accuracy and frequency is needed, when players feed themselves shuttles to improve their technical or physical skills. The more players in a training group are capable of good feeding, the more options for the coach and the opportunity to give lots of feedback, if the coach does not have to feed anymore.

Practice using multi-shuttle can be boring though, if on the one hand it is done via isolated hit-the-target exercises or on the other hand frustrating for the feeder and/or the one practicing if it is implemented to early in the training process while the feeding still is not good enough to pursuit the exercise’s goal.

A simple, but fun possibility is the game “Biathlon” – where according to the name – there are conditional elements combined with feeding tasks combined. Have a look at the video first:

The complexity is solely left to the readers fantasy – it could be just a combination of sprints and feeding task as in the video, or even more elements e.g. jumping over hurdles and boxes, running slalom-style trough obstacles or jumping on matts can be added. As motivation the whole thing can be done in teams and players could be given rewards or be punished (e.g. with push ups, sit-ups or small extra sprints) for hitting or not hitting the specified target. Done for a period of 3-4 weeks twice each weeks with changes to the parcours to keep it interesting and fun surely ensures better feeding qualities of your players.

Enjoy,
