VIDEO Multi-Shuttle Exercise for Singles - Diagonal Path

Multishuttle-exercises are a common tool in Badminton training. The important thing is not just do the exercise, but have specific goals in mind. This article gives some thoughts about the exercise multi shuttle diagonal path for singles.

As Badminton coach beeing able to feed multi shuttle exercises is on essential tool - the more precise and variable, the faster and more frequent on can feed the better is the tool. But a tool is still a tool - if you try to nail something into a wall with a tool that is not supposed to do that specific task, the tool itself could be world class quality, but will not fullfil the specific task.

These thoughts implement a number of points - on three I want to talk about in the following:

1) Ability to feed and coach: feeding is only a coaching tool if you can feed and coach - that means while hitting fast and precisely also be able to observe what is going on with your players, tactic and techniquewise, give instructions, feedback and motivation.

2) The ability to feed and move the feeding - that means to feed from different positions from your body (sidehand or overhead feeding) and different positions from the court, that means that you are able to move around while feeding

the most important part is

3) the goal or aim of the exercise. If you look at the two videos presented here:

Video 2 - overhead feeding diagonal for single

this is just the set up for the exercise. The set up includes the cornes played to, the feeding position, the intensity (how fast and frequent) and the volume (how many shuttles, how many sets) of the exercise.

Before you set these variables, you need a goal. What do you want do achieve with the player, which part of his game should be worked on and improve - if you have a goal in mind you can set up an exercise, this could be a set up as presented above.

For these two multi-shuttle exercises, possible goals could be:

- practising and stabilizing the diagonal path and the footwork technqiue behind it

- specific for overhead the chance from offensive to defensive footwork and body position

- practising and stabilizing different shots

- practising shot variatons

- energy systems developement in specific match situatioen (as in the video)

- regaining trust in long traveling distances and long ralleys.

So, I hope you can use these thoughts for training planing and set up, remember, when it comes to multi-feed as a coach, a lot of practise makes perfect.
